There are a number of great animated comic book movies such as Akira and Ghost in the Shell, but I excluded cartoon movies from the list. This list is dedicated to live-action comic book movies only.

Also excluded are standard drama/action movies that happen to be based on a comic book such as American Splendor and Road to Perditon. For example, even the casual audience knows Superman is based on a comic book. Unless they had read film info about American Splendor, the casual audience would never know the film was based on a comic book. This list is all about live-action Superheroes and Supervillains.
