A police spinner has landed on the roof. Gaff is standing 20 feet away, like a captain looking at sea, leaning on his cane.

GAFF: You've done a man's job, sir. . . .I guess you're through, huh?

Deckard's eyes level on him. His voice comes out low and raw.

DECKARD: Finished.

Gaff who apparently gathered Deckard's blaster, throws it towards him, and starts walking back to his spinner.

He stops and turns to speak to Deckard again.

GAFF: It's too bad she won't live. . .but then again, who does.

Deckard doesn't answer. He just stares silently, there are no words for the moment.

CUT TO INT. DECKARD'S CORRIDOR - DAY: Deckard has arrived at his apartment, when opening his door, a sense of alarm hits him and he pulls out his blaster. The room is dark and quiet as Deckard enters.

DECKARD: Rachael?

No answer.

DECKARD: Rachael?

CUT TO INT. BEDROOM: The bedroom is dark. He sees something on the bed. A body? Deckard enters.

DECKARD: Rachael?

Deckard approaches closer. Rachael is on the bed and covered with a sheet. Completely motionless.

He slowly pulls the sheet off her head. Deckard leans over her, very close, to see if she's breathing. A short moment, then the tension goes out of him. She's alive.

Rachael wakes and sees Deckard looking over her face to face.

DECKARD: Do you love me?

RACHAEL: I love you.

DECKARD: Do you trust me?

RACHAEL: I trust you.

Moments later, Deckard is looking cautiously through the apartment doorway. The corridor seems to be clear. He calls to her to come forward.

DECKARD: Rachael.

CUT TO INT. CORRIDOR - DAY: He holds his hand up for her to stay put while he walks through the corridor to call up the elevator. The elevator door is open and he signals Rachael who is standing at apartment doorway, to get in the elevator.

She walks briskly to the elevator, her high heel deflects something small and shiny.

Deckard notices this and goes over to inspect it.

He reaches down and picks it up.

It's a tiny unicorn made of tinfoil... Gaff's gauntlet.

Deckard looks at it for a moment.

He recalls what Gaff said to him on the roof top, "It's too bad she won't live, but then again who does."

He gives himself a reflective nod, crumples the origami and leaves with Rachael.

FADE OUT.

THE END
